Daniel Rooney, of Cambuslang, was playing in Radisson RED in Glasgow when he was noticed by celebrity correspondent and TV presenter Ross King - a 'good friend' of Gary Barlow. X-Factor star Olly Murs had been due to start Take That's show at the Hydro in Glasgow, but was forced to cancel at the last minute, leaving the band with no opening act. Gary jokingly texted his friend Ross to ask if he knew a singer at short notice, when the presenter told him there was a talented young man playing in the bar of the hotel next door - Daniel Rooney. With just 30 minutes' notice, Daniel was asked to head over to the Hydro and play to a crowd of 14,000.

Simon Thomas and his wife Derrina have welcomed their second child together, a son Theo Benjamin Thomas.  Taking to Instagram on Friday, the former Blue Peter presenter announced the happy news as he shared a heartfelt snap of the couple with their newborn.  The TV star, 51, who is currently the host of Soccer Saturday, gushed over how proud he is of his wife Derrina after the couple experienced a difficult birth with their first child, Talitha.

Former Miss Ecuador contestant Landy Párraga Goyburo, 23, was gunned down on Sunday in Quevedo, a short time after she shared details of her final meal to millions of followers on social media. The killers were believed to have been hired by the widow of a cartel boss who had an affair with Ms Párraga Goyburo before his violent death in prison. Shocking footage of the murder shows the gunmen approach the table where Ms Párraga Goyburo and a male companion were eating before shooting her repeatedly at point-blank range.

Posting on Instagram as @iammadeleinemccann, Ms Wendell claimed she could not remember her childhood and was convinced she looked physically similar to Madeleine. Her claims horrified millions and distressed her Polish family. A DNA test carried out with the help of celebrity psychic Dr Fia Johansson last year concluded Ms Wendell was '100 per cent Polish' - but the 'faker' nevertheless turned up at the Leicestershire memorial service hoping to ask the McCanns to take a test.

Madonna is bringing her Celebration Tour to a close in grand fashion with a free concert at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A disowned son's scathing obituary about his Jehovah's Witness father highlighted family estrangement over their religious differences. The writer, Timothy McLaughlin, felt catharsis in exposing his decade-long shunning and disownment after leaving the faith. McLaughlin has said he stands by his message of transparency and the need to address the pain caused by familial rejection. For 136 years, the identity of Jack the Ripper has confounded history buffs. Now, a TikToker from Tennessee has added a name to the list of suspects. As World Naked Gardening Day approaches this Saturday, one gutsy gardener from the U.S. is shedding more than just clothes as she tends to her plants. Known only as The Naked Gardener on YouTube, an American woman from Arizona is baring it all and sharing her unique perspective on the age-old practice of gardening in the nude. First established in 2014, World Naked Gardening Day has since taken place each year on the first Saturday of May. As stated on their home page, World National Gardening Day is when 'people across the globe are encouraged, on the first Saturday of May, to tend their portion of the world's garden unclothed as nature intended.' However, for The Naked Gardener, each day serves as a opportunity to plant seeds and prune bushes in the nude - and the gardening enthusiast has detailed why it's 'vital' to strip off and realign with Mother Earth.

With Summer fast approaching, it's getting closer to the time where we either break out our tennis whites, or watch Wimbledon 's finest in theirs. But now, Gen Z are taking it a step further, with the latest trend tennis-core sweeping across TikTok and other social media platforms. And it's largely thanks to actor Zendaya , who has been donning tennis garb - including shoes with tennis balls on the heels - as part of her press tour for upcoming movie Challengers, where she plays a tennis prodigy.
